General

Q: Why should I choose Road2Argentina over other study abroad organizations?
A: We are an organization based in Buenos Aires, meaning that we are experts on Buenos Aires and Argentina. We have years of experience in study and work abroad and have used this experience to create a comprehensive and innovative program. Our commitment doesn’t end after your first day of class. We are available 24/7 and dedicated to providing you the best possible experience abroad.

Q: Why are Road2Argentina’s prices lower than other study abroad organizations? Will I still be receiving a quality experience?
A: We are able to offer affordable programs because we are a local organization. This means that you don’t have to pay tuition twice. With other study abroad programs, you pay tuition to your home university and to a university abroad.

Q: Do I need a visa to study in Argentina?
A: Citizens of many countries do not need a visa to enter Argentina. Please view our entry requirements section to find out if you will need a visa to enter Argentina
. If you are from a country not on this list, please contact your consulate in order to determine entry requirements.

Q: When should I arrive for my program?
A: You should arrive one or two days before your scheduled program orientation.

Q: How do I get from the airport to my accommodation?
A: We arrange your transfer from the airport to your accommodation. After you provide us with your arrival information we arrange and confirm your pickup.

Q: How will I meet other people and make friends while in Argentina?
A: Road2Argentina organizes opportunities for you to meet other people in the program. These opportunities include a group welcome dinner held at the beginning of each month and two group activities per week that are included in your program. You will also make new friends at your classes or placement, at your accommodation and through our language partner program.

Q: Will I have time to travel? How do I arrange trips?
A: Yes! Weekend excursions are convenient, inexpensive and easy to arrange. Travel throughout Argentina can be arranged once you are here. Long weekends and breaks between courses are an ideal time to travel.

Q: How can I receive university credit for my courses?
A: Most students are able to receive university credit for our programs. We suggest that our students make an appointment with an academic advisor in order to determine procedures for receiving credit. We are able to provide you with course descriptions, letters of recommendations, certificates and transcripts.

Q: What is the average age of the students in your program?
A: We receive participants who are 18 years of age and older, the majority of whom fall between the ages of 18 and 26.

Q: How do you choose your homestay families?
A: We have interviewed our families, visited their homes and we continue to use their services because we have had positive feedback from previous students. All of our homestays are located in the nicest and safest neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and are close to transportation, shopping and entertainment. We use your profile information in order to best match you with a family.

Q: Can people from my home country call me on my cell phone?
A: Yes! Your friends and family can reach you on your cell phone. Dialing instructions can be found in our Info Pack.

Q: What should I pack?
A: We recommend packing light and leaving extra space in your suitcase as we know you will want to take advantage of the great shopping and low prices in Argentina. Other packing ideas can be found in our Info Pack.

Q: Are the accommodations close to my classes/placement?
A: We place you as close as possible to where you are taking classes or working. All of our accommodation placements are within short walking distance to public transportation to take you to your placement or anywhere else in the city.

Q: What are my payment options? When is payment due?
A: Program payments must be paid by bank wire transfer. Payment must be received at lease two weeks (14 days) before your program is scheduled to start.

Q: How do I apply? Do I have to pay to apply?
A: You can apply for any of our programs by creating a user account and submitting an application from our website. After we receive your application, we will send you a follow up email with a program description, program price and instructions for completing the registration.

Q: Where should I search for airfare?
A: We recommend searching for airfare on the following sites:

Q: Which airport should I arrive to in Buenos Aires?
A: You will be arriving into Ministro Pistarini, Ezeiza (EZE).

Spanish Program

Q: How many days per week will I have class?
A: Class is 5 days per week, Monday - Friday.

Q: What time of day will I have class?
A: Spanish class is from 1-4pm.

Q: Who teaches the classes?
A: Certified Spanish Professors from the University language center teach the courses. You will have two rotating professors for each one month course.

Q: Can I combine another program with Spanish courses?
A: Absolutely. You can combine Spanish classes with any other program except for TEFL certification (as this is a super intensive course). You will have your other program in either the morning or evening, scheduled around your Spanish course.

Q: Can I receive credit for the Spanish courses?
A: Yes, many past students have been able to receive credit for their course work. We suggest meeting with an academic or study abroad adviser to request information on how to receive study abroad credit. At the end of your course you will receive a certificate with the University of Buenos Aires logo, reflecting the courses and hours you have completed.

Q: How many levels of Spanish courses are there?
A: There are six levels plus advanced special topics courses.

Q: Where is the school located?
A: The school is located in the neighborhood of Congreso, only a few blocks from the congress building and downtown Buenos Aires.


Semester Program

Q: Will I receive a transcript?
A: Yes, you will receive an official transcript at the end of your semester that can be presented at your home university in order to receive study abroad credit.

Q: What are the regular university courses that I can take?
A: There are regular university courses available in many fields including and not limited to: Accounting, Advertising, Business, Economics, History, International Relations, Journalism and Marketing, Communications, Political Science, Labor Relations, Sociology, Social Work, Business Administration.

Q: I need to present course syllabi to my advisor, where can obtain them?
A: Many of the course syllabi can be downloaded from our website and other syllabi can be obtained upon request.

Q: I receive financial aid at my home university, can it be applied to this semester program?
A: This depends on the guidelines of each type of financial aid. You should consult a financial aid advisor at your home university to verify if funds can be used for study abroad.


Internships

Q: How many hours per day and how many days per week will I be interning?
A: On average, internship work Monday - Friday, 3-5 hours per day. Scheduling varies per internship.

Q: Are there any paid internships available?
A: Due to labor regulations, all of our internships are unpaid.

Q: Will I need a visa to intern?
A: No, you do not need a visa to participant in our internship program.

Q: When can I start my internship?
A: Internships can be started at any time.

Q: Can I receive credit for my internship?
A: Many interns are able to receive credit for their internship. You should meet with an adviser at your home university to inquire about requirements for receiving credit. We are able to provide you with letters of recommendation after your internship is complete.

Q: What level of Spanish is required for the internship program?
A: You must have an intermediate level of Spanish or higher in order to participate in one of our internships. If you are not at an intermediate level, you should complete a one month intensive Spanish course before starting an internship.

Q: What should I wear to my internship?
A: Dress is business casual for most internships. Interns at the law firm internship should dress formally.

Volunteer Work

Q: How many hours per day and how many days per week will I be volunteering?
A: In general, volunteers work 15-20 hours per week plus travel time (varies per placement).

Q: Will I need a visa to volunteer?
A: No, you do not need a visa to volunteer.

Q: When can I start my volunteer work?
A: You can start at any time.

Q: Are the volunteering placements safe?
A: Yes, we have pre-screened and selected our volunteer organizations because they are located in areas safe for volunteers and because these organizations take special precautions to maitain a high level of security.

Q: What level of Spanish is required for the volunteering program?
A: You should have at least a basic level of Spanish to volunteer. Your level of Spanish will help determine the type of work you can do.

Q: Can I choose my volunteering placement or am I assigned to one?
A: We provide you with detailed descriptions of each placement option and you choose which at which site you would like to work.

ESL Teaching

Q: Do I have to speak Spanish to participate in the ESL teaching program?
A: No, you do not need to speak Spanish in order to participate in the ESL teaching program.

Q: What ages are the children I will work with?
A: We have placement with elementary and high school aged children and also at language schools where you teach adults. You can choose which level you would like to teach.

Q: Do I have to have a certification to teach ESL?
A: No. No previous experience is required.

Q: Are there any paid ESL teaching positions available?
A: All of our ESL teaching positions are volunteer (unpaid).

Tango

Q: How many classes are included per week?
A: The course includes 2 group classes and one private class per week.

Q: I have never taken a tango class, will I be able to participate?
A: Yes, you will start at the beginner level. More experienced dancers start at the intermediate or advanced level.

Q: What level of Spanish should I have to take tango classes?
A: You should have at least a basic level of Spanish to participate in the tango program.

Q: Can I just sign up for the tango program or do I have to combine it with another program?
A: You can sign up for just tango. If you like to stay busy, we recommend combining tango with another program.

Cooking

Q: How many classes are included in the program?
A: Included in the cooking program are two classes per week, each lasting 3 hours.

Q: What level of Spanish do I need for the cooking program?
A: You should have at least an intermediate level of Spanish.

Q: Who teaches the cooking classes?
A: The cooking classes are taught by instructors from a top cooking school in Buenos Aires.

Q: I'm a vegetarian, will I still have class options?
A: Yes, you choose your classes upon arrival from a calendar of options and you will have choices such as pastry making, pastas, soups, catering and bread making.
