Happy New Year!
We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season and welcomed in the year with joy! For our part, we are very excited for 2011 and all of the possibilities and projects it holds and we are looking forward to working hard over the next year to ensure that Road2Argentina continues to offer an enriching experience to all our participants and partners. The end of the year is not only a time to look forward but also a time to look back and give thanks. We work throughout the year with many of our nonprofit organization partners and here we want to highlight some of the more outstanding and heartwarming activities of Road2Argentina in the past month.
We are always proud of the many accomplishments our Roadies achieve every day here in Buenos Aires; whether it be mastering Spanish, stepping out of their comfort zone to try something new, or excelling in their internships. But recently we were extra impressed by the efforts of Lauren, a Roadie who came to do an internship but who also took the chance to make a donation to one of our volunteer projects in the shantytowns of Buenos Aires. Through her sister’s NGO, Bear Hugs, Lauren spent the day with 2 and 3 year olds bringing them presents and smiles to kids who rarely get the chance to receive either.
We thank Lauren for her outstanding generosity and kindness!Check out more photos of the day here
Road2Argentina Receives Philanthropic Award
We were proud to be honored by the NGO Fundamind with their award “Maternidad Fundamind 2010″ for our continued support throughout the years for their efforts in raising awareness of HIV/AIDS among mothers, children, and families. Road2Argentina and our volunteers are looking forward to continuing this collaboration to improve the lives of some of Buenos Aires’ neediest populations in the upcoming year. Read more
Road2Argentina Gets Our Hands Dirty
The end of the year was upon us and we decided it was time to get out of the office and into the field (literally) to do some volunteer work. We took a trip to one of our newer volunteer projects at a hospital with an organic garden. The organic garden serves as a rehabilitation tool for the patients before they are officially released from the hospital. Working with in the organic garden with volunteers provides the patients with the opportunity to socialize and work on productive project.
We loved the experience of taking a volunteer day and working together with the patients and we were happy to share the day with them especially during this holiday season!
